Terms of Service

Article 1 (Application)

These Terms of Service (hereinafter "Terms") set forth the conditions for using Rootread (hereinafter "the Service"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Article 2 (Definitions)

The following terms used in these Terms are defined as follows:

• "The Service" refers to the reading tracking and management service provided by Rootread.
• "User" refers to any individual who uses the Service.
• "Content" refers to reading data, notes, and other information recorded by Users in the Service.

Article 3 (Registration)

To use the Service, Users must download the app and complete the necessary setup. By completing registration, Users are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

Article 4 (Prohibited Activities)

Users must not engage in any of the following activities when using the Service:

• Activities that violate laws or public order and morals
• Activities related to criminal acts
• Activities that destroy or interfere with the functionality of the Service's servers or networks
• Activities that may interfere with the operation of the Service
• Collecting or accumulating personal information of other Users
• Unauthorized access or attempts thereof
• Impersonating other Users
• Activities that directly or indirectly provide benefits to antisocial forces in connection with the Service
• Any other activities deemed inappropriate by the operator

Article 5 (Suspension of Service)

The operator may suspend or interrupt all or part of the Service without prior notice to Users if any of the following reasons are determined to apply:

• When performing maintenance, inspection, or updates to the computer systems related to the Service
• When the provision of the Service becomes difficult due to force majeure such as earthquakes, lightning, fire, power outages, or natural disasters
• When computers or communication lines are shut down due to an accident
• When the operator otherwise determines that provision of the Service is difficult

Article 6 (Paid Plans)

The Service offers both a free plan and a paid plan (Pro). Pricing, payment methods, cancellation procedures, and other details for the paid plan shall follow the guidance provided within the app. Payments for the paid plan are processed through the App Store provided by Apple Inc.

Article 7 (Copyright)

Copyright of Content recorded by Users in the Service belongs to the respective Users. However, the operator reserves the right to use User Content for the purpose of providing, improving, and promoting the Service.

Article 8 (Disclaimer)

The operator does not warrant, either expressly or implicitly, that the Service is free from defects in fact or in law (including defects related to safety, reliability, accuracy, completeness, effectiveness, fitness for a particular purpose, security, errors, bugs, and infringement of rights).

The operator shall not be liable for any damages incurred by Users arising from the Service, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence on the part of the operator.

Article 9 (Changes to the Service)

The operator may change, add to, or discontinue the content of the Service with prior notice to Users, and Users agree to accept such changes.

Article 10 (Changes to the Terms)

The operator may modify these Terms at any time without notice to Users when deemed necessary. The revised Terms shall take effect from the time they are posted on the Service.

Article 11 (Governing Law & Jurisdiction)

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising in connection with the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
